FAQs

Here is some information you may need to know about me or the service I provide.

Is counselling for me?

Counselling provides a space where you go weekly to talk about yourself, your feelings, your experiences in a non-judgmental, confidential and safe space. Self-care is incredibly important and attending sessions is one way you commit to your own self-care. Whether you feel in crisis or you feel you just need a space to process, reflect or explore, counselling can provide that opportunity.

What happens in a counselling session?

I work in a Person-Centred way and so sessions will be client led, we will work on what you bring to sessions. We may explore your present and also explore your past experiences and feelings to see how this may be affecting your present. Sessions will usually consist of talking about your feelings, thoughts and experiences - there is also opportunity to bring in other interventions that may be helpful to exploration.

How long will I need sessions?

In the first session we will discuss how long we may contract for - It will be dependent on what you feel you want to work on and how long you may want support for. It is not unusual for situations or changes in your circumstances to arise and for you to feel that you want to continue. It is also possible that you may feel improvement earlier/faster than expected.

Will my session be confidential?

It is incredibly important for you to feel safe in your session and that your private information is not shared. It is my job to ensure that your confidence is kept at all times. I will not discuss or share any personal information or content of sessions with anyone. However, I do work with a clinical supervisor to ensure safe and ethical practice. In supervision I will discuss my work but your personal/private information is never shared. I do not share information with third parties such as GPs and will only ever disclose information unless obligated by law or with your consent.

Will my counsellor judge me or give me advice?

Your counsellor should never make you feel judged. Nor is it the place or role of the counsellor to give advice. I am here to support you in finding your own answers and facilitate change in a safe and non-judgmental space.

Fees

My standard fee for a 50 minute session is £50-£60 depending on location (Remote/Online or face-to-face). In some circumstances I am able to offer discounted rates.
